Music at Walshaw – Christmas 2015

ROBERT BULLER studied at the RNCM with Emma Ferrand prior to becoming a freelance IT consultant. He plays for many local orchestras and choral societies in Lancaster, Yorkshire and greater Manchester—-as principal cello for the Promenade Concert Orchestra and Settle Orchestral Society. Robert performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician.

MARGARET BRUCE was born in Vancouver but has lived most of her life in London where she studied at the Royal College of Music. She has also spent many years living with her family at Walshaw. She has given concerts all over the world and many composers have written works specially for her. Her wonderfully passionate playing is a truly memorable experience which has been captured on several CDs available from her website at www.margaretbruce.com.

ANDREW ROSTRON: Originally from Oldham, Andrew’s inspiration for learning the violin was his grandfather, a keen amateur violinist. He studied with the acclaimed Rudolf Botta at the  RNCM, whilst studying for a combined degree in Mathematics and Music at Manchester University. Andrew works predominantly as a technical instructor for a range of blue chip companies, while remaining active in a variety of musical ensembles, often as leader. Currently he is the leader of the Todmorden Orchestra, a position he has held for 12 years.

CHRISTOPHER IRVIN trained in London for a theatrical career. In recent years he has established himself as a composer of Light Classical Music. This has  lead to invitations to conduct several orchestras. He is currently Musical Director of the White Rose Orchestra, Leeds. Two discs of his orchestra and choral music have recently been released on the Campion “British Composers” label.

The HEBDEN BRIDGE LITTLE THEATRE CHOIR averages about 20 singers enjoying a new enthusiasm for four-part singing. The choir’s repertoire has a distinctly theatrical basis, plus lots of folksong material. New members are always welcome to  join this friendly (but hardworking) ensemble.

MUSIC AT WALSHAW is non-profit-making and offered for the good of the local community.
